Funeral services for George Thompson

George was a long time member of the club. He loved gathering with friends and opened his home for parties, where laughter was loud.

His life is being celebrated Friday at St. Anthony. The service begins at 11 a.m.

  1. It broke my heart to find out that Mr. George had passed. He was a funny person and I will always remember him. He and his family is in my prayers. He is in heaven now and is our guardian angel now.

  2. “We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, console one another with these words.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-17.

    Dear Thompson Family:

I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was so very sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Thompson, he was such a beautiful person. I know that St. Anthony’s will miss his presence and his wonderful example of generosity.

Please let me know whether there is anything I can do to help during this difficult time. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I will include you in the prayer intentions of my religious community.

    God Bless,

    Brother John Paul Phillips, O.P.

  3. There are members and there are institutions. George Thompson was an institution. For more than 30 years George has been a constant.
    Helpful, supportive, funny, comitted.

There is a void, but not a vacum.

  4. WOW - I really don't know what to say about a person that has impacted my life even when I didn't think I needed impacting.

To Evelyn, George was more than "just" a church member to me - he was the "Big brother" I didn't have growing up! His wisdom, candor, and patience were virtues I will truely miss. I am forever grateful for all the times we had together. I know he is in God's hands now and will forever have his watchful eye on us!

  5. We will never forget George and inspiration that he was to us. May you rest in peace and be happy knowing that you are with the Most High and Gracious GOD. May the ones of us left on earth to mourn your passing meet up with you in the by and by. My GOD be with you Evelyn.
